Hierarchical structures and their representation

The implementation is still the most time-consuming task in Numerical Mathematics. Since the implementation is the translation of the mathematical language into the programming language, one has to support this step. In the talk, we discuss the nature of the mathematical language, the arising difficulties and propose a formalisation which may serve as interface between both languages. Here the hierarchical structure of mathematical terms is very helpful.
